Academic details

Currently working as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the School of Psychology at the University of Sydney.

I recently graduated with my PhD in Psychology.
My doctoral thesis was in psycholinguistics at the School of Psychology of the University of New South Wales, under the supervision of Sally Andrews. The thesis was entitled "Cognates, competition and control in bilingual speech production". My research relates to how bilinguals control their two languages, particularly with regard to speech production: that is, how does a bilingual manage to say the right words in the right language, at the right time? See my profile within the School site or my Curriculum Vitae for more information, including presentations and publications.

Travel and Study:

Twice during my studenthood I escaped the concrete jungle of UNSW to study at German universities.
I spent 1997 on exchange at the University of Bonn by the Romantic Rhine.
I also conducted research over a couple of months in 2002 at the University of Münster.

During high school I spent a year on AFS exchange in Hungary, and I've been able to visit a couple of times since to catch up with my host family, refresh my Hungarian and see how vastly the country has changed since the early 90s. Any other students from the 1992-3 AFS Hungary cohort who have lost touch, please drop me a line!

One of my favourite countries to travel in was Bolivia. Check out my photos to see why!

Photos from other adventures (Turkey, Egypt, China) will be posted when I get a chance...

Meanwhile, more recent photos can be found on my Flickr page.

My other occupation and passion is Middle Eastern Dance,
also known as Oriental Dance or Bellydance.
Check out my dance page for info, links and pictures.

Since mid 2006 I have also been learning Argentine tango. A group of us recently inaugurated an association called Tango Synergy to foster tango dancing in the community and allow us to dance and spread our joy in dancing!
