I am currently working as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the School of Psychology at the University of Sydney.

In February this year I submitted my doctoral thesis in Psychology at the School of Psychology, UNSW, Australia,
supervised by Professor Sally Andrews. My thesis was entitled "Cognates, Competition and Control in Bilingual Speech Production".
I graduated in September 2005.

Graduated in May 2000 with:

Studied for 12 months at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn, Germany, in 1997,
as part of a reciprocal exchange program with UNSW. This entailed normal studies in German at the university,
along with a cultural program and intensive language instruction.

Secondary School
Attended Taree High School, matriculating as Dux in 1994 with a Tertiary Entrance Rank of 99.80,
and Higher School Certificate results in the top 10% of students statewide for all subjects undertaken,
ranging from Visual Arts to Engineering Science.
During my secondary schooling, I spent a year as an AFS exchange student in the town of Pápa, Hungary.
There I lived with a host family, attended the local grammar school, learnt the language and was introduced to Hungarian culture.

Research Assistance
Conducted psycholinguistic experiments for Professor Sally Andrews on a casual basis during 2000.
Research assistant for Prof. Dr. Inge Seiffge-Krenke at the University of Bonn in 1997-8.
My work involved correcting and "polishing" psychological research reports for publication in scientific journals.
Several of these were subsequently published, including a book that I proofed.
The same professor employed me to translate a book on adolescent health.
It has now been published by Cambridge University Press under the title
"Diabetic Adolescents and their Families: Stress, Coping, and Adaptation".
The Postgraduate Board is the peak, independent representative body of all (approx. 11,000) postgraduate students enrolled at UNSW.
Members are elected by the student body.
During the 2000-1 term, I was Student Guild Liaison Officer; member of the Human Resources Group;
and postgraduate member of UNSW Student Guild Council.
In the 2001-2 term I assumed several responsibilities: Secretary, Chair; member of the Postgraduate Executive Committee,
Human Resources Group, and Student Guild Staff Management Committee;
representative to the Student Facilities Planning Committee of UNSW Council.
In my capacity as a staff manager, I was involved in shortlisting and interviewing candidates for paid positions;
liaising with staff; compiling and revising work contracts, position descriptions and the Enterprise Agreement;
resolving grievances; and approving staff training.
As Secretary/Chair, I co-ordinated meetings, organized the annual elections,
and assisted with projects ranging from a speaker night to preparing a submission for the Senate Inquiry into Higher Education
and the provision of computing facilities for postgraduate students.
Postgraduate representative to the School of Psychology, 2001-2.
Psychology Representative for the UNSW Rural Allied Health and Medical Students' Association, 1999;
including several trips to rural high schools to help advocate university study in the health disciplines.
Ongoing participation in various voluntary organizations at UNSW, including Amnesty International,
the German Society, "Thoughtful Foods" Food Co-operative.
I have also worked both voluntarily and in a paid capacity at UNSW open days, talking to prospective students.
As a volunteer with AFS International Exchanges, I have been a support person for high school exchange students
and a group leader at preparatory camps for departing exchange students.
Our family hosted an exchange student from Germany for a year in 1990.
